After receiving new details from Colorado, we have updated the Colorado Sick Leave Plan to 48 hours. We also made sure that employees cannot carryover more than 48 hours.
This means that employers can count the amount of unused sick leave that is carried over to a subsequent year toward the employee’s entitlement to accrue sick leave hours in the subsequent year. An employee who carried over the full 48 hours from year one into year two thus does not accrue any additional hours in year two. The 48 hours of carried-over sick leave counts toward and fully satisfies the sick leave entitlement in year two.
This was released on September 28, 2022. We have reached out to the employers that we impacted to adjust those employees that went over 48 hours.

You will need to determine if employees should have this plan assigned to them. If so, start by making the plan active on the Employer> Accrual tab in Admin Tools. Then make the plan active on each employee that is eligible. For part-time or variable employees, you can reduce the amount of leave by editing the “initial balance” field on the employee accrual. For more information, review Accruals - Overview and Sick Leave (Accrual) Overview.
The standard W4 that is provide by Avionté includes mapping functionality to back office that cannot be altered or customized. The only fields on the form that can be changed are the employee information fields. Learn more Customizing Pre-Populated Employer Information.

Importantly, the amendment does not provide employees with any additional SPSL to use, but merely extends the period during which employees who have not exhausted their SPSL allotments may use such leave.

After more than two years of delay and amendment, the District of Columbia’s Ban on Non-Compete Agreements Amendment Act of 2020, which was introduced in the pre-pandemic days of 2020, will finally take legal effect on October 1, 2022. Efforts to amend the 2020 act culminated in the Non-Compete Clarification Amendment Act of 2022 (D.C. Act 24-526), which the mayor signed into law on July 27, 2022. Read the Act
