Avionte CLASSIC Back Office Release Notes - April 14, 2022

Release Date: 4/14/2022

Preface: Please consult your local, state, and federal laws and/or legal counsel to ensure full compliance.

What is the new feature?

We added a New Mexico Sick Leave Plan to the application.

Effective July 1, 2022, New Mexico requires employers to provide at least one hour of earned sick leave for every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum of 64 leave hours per year. Unused sick leave must carry over, subject to the annual 64-hour maximum. Accruals begin on the date of hire starting on or after the law’s effective date. There is no waiting period.

Why did we do that?

To adhere to New Mexico compliance.

For more information on sick leave plans, see the KB article Sick Leave (Accrual) Overview – Avionte Classic (zendesk.com)

What is the new feature?

We enhanced the audit capability for tracking changes made to staffing suppliers.

Why did we do that?

A client expressed a need for enhanced auditing in AviontéCLASSIC; in particular, they would like to track changes made to the property CalculateDailyHoursBasedOnTime in Config Options.

A change occurred in their system because the "Copy Information From Supplier" section was populated. This resulted from a user updating a Supplier property, clicking Save, and clicking yes to the pop-up. This would have copied/overwritten updated information and reverted to the default settings related to that supplier.

An audit for that change did not exist and was added to allow clients to track changes made to Suppliers in the future.

What is the new feature?

We enhanced the Time Entry, Mass Update feature to allow transactions with batch IDs to be selected, so they can be deleted if necessary.

Why did we do that?

A client expressed the need to delete a payroll Batch. We enhanced the system so that clients can select any open transactions, even if they are associated with a Batch, and then apply the Time Entry > Mass Update > Delete options for those transactions.

This will allow the Delete options in the Time Entry Mass Update selection to now include those transactions with Batch IDs to be selected.

What is the new feature?

Enhanced the ability to enter exemptions for Canadian Health Taxes.

Why did we do that?

Clients would like to manually enter exemptions for Canadian Health Taxes so that they can apply an approved exemption for the current years' calculation.

This will allow staffing companies the option to apply an exemption value on a New Canadian Employer Health Tax record.

How does it work?

The enhancement will apply a unique "Vertex tax code" to the Canadian Employer Health Taxes [for the following provinces: MB, ON, NL, BC].

If the Vertex code is equal to the Canadian Employer Health Taxes Vertex code, the system will display the following under the Tax Rate Details:

  • A checkbox to "Override Exemption" defaulted to unchecked
  • A field to enter an "Override Exemption Value" which displays zeros and is greyed out by default
  • A checkbox called "Apply Default" that by default is unchecked

If the override exemption check box is checked, the override exemption value field will become editable.

If a value is entered in the override exemption value field:

  • Remuneration is under the specified exemption value should not calculate Employer Health Taxes
  • Remuneration is over the specified exemption value should calculate at the specified rate

If the user selects the applied default check box, the rate and the exemption value should populate with the provincial defaults.
