Talent Profile - Contributions & Deductions

The Deductions and Contributions section of the Talent Profile in BOLD gives recruiters direct visibility into a talent's deduction and contribution setup — without needing to switch to Back Office or contact the BO team. From one location, recruiters can view current configuration, review historical information, add new deductions or contributions, and track who made updates and when.

Overview

Deductions and contributions are payroll amounts configured in Back Office. Deductions are withheld from a talent's paycheck; contributions are employer-paid amounts remitted on the talent's behalf. Common examples include health insurance premiums, retirement plan elections, and garnishments.

The Deductions and Contributions section in BOLD brings this information directly into the Talent Profile, so recruiters can answer talent questions and verify setup without leaving their primary workflow.

Note: The following are not included in this section: equipment deductions, rate setup editing (rates are view-only), and one-off deductions from the Transactions tab. These continue to be managed in Back Office.

Accessing Deductions & Contributions

Deductions and Contributions are available as two separate tabs within the Talent Profile in BOLD.

  1. Navigate to the Talent record.
  2. Open the talent's profile.
  3. Select the Deductions or Contributions tab within the profile.

Note: Adding or editing deductions and contributions requires the Edit Deductions & Contributions permission. Users without this permission can view but cannot make changes. Contact your system administrator to request access.

Deductions

The Deductions tab displays amounts withheld from a talent's paycheck based on configuration set in Back Office. From this tab, recruiters can view the current setup, review history, and add or edit deduction records directly in BOLD.

Viewing Deductions

Current Setup

The current view displays all active deductions configured on the talent record. This reflects the live setup as it exists in Back Office. Use the search bar to locate a specific deduction by name.

Filters

Select the Filter icon next to the search bar to narrow the deductions list by Division or Status.

Filter Description
Division Limits results to deductions associated with one or more selected divisions.
Status Limits results to deductions with a specific status, such as active or inactive.

 

History

The history view shows amounts previously withheld from the talent's paycheck, giving recruiters a complete picture of how the deduction setup has changed over time. You can access the history for each deduction by clicking it and navigating to the History tab within.

Notes

The Notes tab within each deduction record allows free-text notes to be added for context or reference.

  1. From the Deductions tab, click the deduction you want to add a note to.
  2. Select the Notes tab within the record.
  3. Click the pencil icon to the right of the deduction name to open the notes field.
  4. Enter your note text.
  5. Click the checkmark icon to save or the x icon to cancel.

Rate Setup

The Rate Setup tab within each deduction record displays the tiered rate configuration for that deduction. This view is read-only in BOLD; rate setup is managed in Back Office. For more information on this setup, please see our knowledge base article here: Transaction Type - Tiered Transactions.

Column Description
Exemptions Not used for tiered deductions. This field will display N/A.
Fixed Amount Indicates whether a specific dollar amount is deducted for this tier. Displays Yes or No.
Percent Indicates whether a percentage of income is deducted for this tier. Displays Yes or No.
Levy Indicates whether the entire amount between the Lower Limit and Upper Limit is deducted for this tier. Displays Yes or No.
Deduction Rate The dollar amount or percentage deducted for this tier, depending on the deduction type.
Lower Limit The income threshold at which the deduction for this tier begins.
Upper Limit The income threshold at which the deduction for this tier stops.

 

Adding a Deduction

  1. From the Deductions tab, click Add Deduction.
  2. Complete the required fields for the deduction.
    1. When selecting an Agency, click the Select Agency button to open a pop-up listing agencies shared with your division. Each agency in the list displays its Short Name, Full Name, and address (Street 1, Street 2, City, State, and Zip) to help you identify the correct one. Use the search bar in the upper-right to locate a specific agency, or scroll the list. Only one agency can be selected at a time — select it, then click Confirm to apply it to the record.
  3. Click Save to apply the changes.

Editing a Deduction

  1. From the Deductions tab, locate the deduction you want to update and click it.
  2. Update the relevant fields. If changing the Agency, click Select Agency to reopen the pop-up and choose a new agency — see Adding a Deduction for details on the agency picker.
  3. Click Save to apply the changes.

Contributions

The Contributions tab displays employer-paid amounts remitted on a talent's behalf, based on configuration set in Back Office. From this tab, recruiters can view the current setup, review history, and add or edit contribution records directly in BOLD.

Viewing Contributions

Current Setup

The current view displays all active contributions configured on the talent record. This reflects the live setup as it exists in Back Office. Use the search bar to locate a specific contribution by name.

Filters

Select the Filter icon next to the search bar to narrow the contributions list by Division or Status.

Filter Description
Division Limits results to contributions associated with one or more selected divisions.
Status Limits results to contributions with a specific status, such as active or inactive.

 

History

The history view shows amounts previously contributed on the talent's behalf. You can access the history for each contribution by clicking it and navigating to the History tab within.

Notes

The Notes tab within each contribution record allows free-text notes to be added for context or reference.

  1. From the Contributions tab, click the contribution you want to add a note to.
  2. Select the Notes tab within the record.

Audit Trail

Every change made to a talent's deductions or contributions is recorded in the audit trail, providing full accountability and transparency for any updates made within BOLD.

When The date and time the change was made
What The specific data that was modified, including old and new values
