Taxes for the staffing supplier are configured within the Tax tab of Admin Tools. Additional tax information can be viewed here, such as the federal and state unemployment limits.
Tax Rate Tab
By default, Avionté provides the Federal Unemployment Tax (FUTA) tax rates. For other tax rates, such as state unemployment insurance (SUI), your site will need to enter those that are applicable.
Add a New Tax Rate
- To enter a new tax rate, click the Add New button on the Tax Rate tab.
-
In the Tax Rate Details group box (lower-left corner of the window), set the fields (Tax Name, Tax Percentage, Start/End Date).
- Click Save once the fields are complete. The tax is displayed in the upper grid.
- The taxes that appear in the grid can be filtered by using the Filter By drop-down menu in the upper-right corner of the window.
Recalculate Tax Amount
When tax rates are changed, some current pay-period taxes may have already been accrued according to the previous rate. The Recalculate Tax Amounts feature recalculates the selected tax on all checks within posted Payroll batches containing a Check Date within the selected tax's date range.

Resolving EIN Errors & Setting Up State Withholding
When processing taxes in Avionté, you may encounter errors related to missing or incorrect EINs or state withholding setups. These issues can disrupt end-of-quarter tax processing or payroll feeds. Below is a comprehensive guide to resolving these issues.
Resolving EIN Errors
- Access Admin Tools: From the Start Page, navigate to Actions > Admin Tools.
- Select Employer: In the left panel, click on Employer and double-click your supplier.
- Open Tax Tab: Go to the Tax tab and then the Tax EIN sub-tab.
- Enter EINs: Add valid EIN numbers for every state where your business operates. For states where you do not operate, enter "0". If you are unsure of the correct EINs, consult a tax expert.

- Regenerate Feed and XML: Generate the payroll feed and XML to ensure the changes are applied.
Adding State Withholding and EINs
If you need to add a missing state withholding (e.g., for a new state where your business has tax liability), follow these steps:
- Add Locality: Go to Admin Tools > Employer > Locality and add the required state or locality.
- Update EIN: Navigate to Admin Tools > Employer > Tax > Tax EIN to create or update the EIN record for the new state.
- Generate Payroll Feed: Go to Weekly Process and generate the payroll feed and XML. For the quarter, select the one when the tax liability for the state began.
- Confirm EIN Details: Return to Admin Tools and verify that the EIN details are correctly added and recognized in the system.
Common Troubleshooting Tips
- Always double-check EIN numbers for accuracy to avoid recurring errors.
- Ensure that all state/locality information is correctly configured in the Locality section.
- Restarting Avionté after making changes ensures that updates are applied system-wide.
- Consult a tax expert if you are unsure about EINs or state withholding requirements.
By following these steps, you can resolve EIN errors and set up state withholding effectively, ensuring smooth tax processing in Avionté.
