When do you start prepping for year-end?

At what point in the year do you starting working through year-end tasks such as getting consent for the electronic delivery of tax forms, reviewing insurance plans and benefit packages, etc.?

  • We do consent during onboarding.  I enter the benefit plans & packages in Companion as soon as I get the new year details.  HR runs the sync error reports weekly so the number of errors isn't so large at the beginning of the year.  Then the first week of January we'll get the reports from our vendors and start working through enrollments.  We have too many people to manually enroll so we use the upload.  Once enrolled and declinations are done, we audit the 1095 report for incorrect codes.
