Tracking Salesperson Commissions

How are you tracking your salesperson commissions?

Currently, in Bold, you can only set a salesperson on the job level, not company level (at least this was the case when I asked Avionte about this in 2021, and I am not seeing in Avionte that this has changed).

That means, if a recruiter opens a job and puts the wrong sales person, that person doesn't get the credit, which will cause a commotion.

We are using Commission Allocation for Recruiters, so that's not an option--plus, that would be even more subject to error as job level sales allocation.

What is working for you?

  • Hi!

We use the Commission Allocation on the Custom Job Order Templates.  Only a select team is able to work in the Requirements tab on a company profile.  They set the sales person on that and a template is required to create an order.

The frustration we've run into is when a salesperson leaves, we need to manually update the template and change rep as a mass action.  Also, the percentage commission changes over time and there's no logic built in to the system so we manage that outside the system.  Meaning, sales commission starts at x% for x amount of time, then changes to x% after that.  We have the salesperson set to 100% unless they split it with another salesperson.

If anyone has found a better way, I'd love to hear it.

  • We use the commission allocation in the job for Recruiter and Sales Rep.  You're right, having to enter the Sales Rep in the job, increases the risk of errors.  We haven't found a better way to handle this than to have the Sales Managers audit the Commission Report before we issue commission payments.  We calculate commissions outside the system and the report is just to determine GP amount per Sales Rep.

  • We do it the same as Jacqueline. Would love to have additional input from other users.

  • We still track entirely through Classic, because we found the Bold solution to be untenable. We created a custom Customer Extra field, and then paid for a custom report to be created to report on revenue, GP, etc., as well as that Customer Extra, which we manage thru Admin Tools for new/exiting Salespeople, and our Operations team manages the administration of the Extra field closely.

Frustrating that it can't be managed through Bold, but we found this to be our best option.
