Form I-9 Updates

Hi all!

I just wanted to give everyone a heads up about the latest Form I-9 updates for 2025. The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) released a new version on April 3, 2025, and there are a few changes you should be aware of.

What's changing?

• The fourth checkbox in Section 1 has been renamed from "A noncitizen authorized to work" to "An alien authorized to work"
• List B document descriptions have been updated, replacing "gender" with "sex" for Driver's license and ID card
• Additional statutory language and a revised DHS Privacy Notice have been added to the instructions

What you need to know:

• Avionté has these updates available for download here
• The newest version is "edition 1/20/25"
• While employers are encouraged to start using this new version immediately, previous versions remain valid until their expiration dates
