This article provides guidance on setting up and integrating Benefits in a Card (BIC) within AvionténBOLD, covering the initial integration setup, enabling the integration in the Avionté Marketplace, and the process of sending BIC onboarding tasks to talent.
Key Takeaways
- Marketplace Integration Setup: Users with Marketplace Admin permission can enable and configure the BIC integration through a one-time setup in the Avionté Marketplace.
- Sending BIC Tasks: After setup, users can send BIC onboarding tasks to talent by selecting the BIC configuration from the dropdown in the Onboarding tab, streamlining the enrollment process.
Integration Setup
To enable and configure the integration, users must have the Marketplace Admin user permission enabled.
Users who open Benefits in a Card from the Marketplace without the Marketplace Admin permission will see the following message.
Marketplace Integration Enablement
This is a one-time setup and typically does not require changes after initial configuration.
Log in to your BOLD environment, then follow these steps:
- Click Account & Settings.
-
Click Avionté Marketplace.
-
In the Search area, type BIC.
-
Click the Details button.
- If you see the following message, the integration is not yet activated for your account.
-
Click the Have an Avionté Account Executive Contact Me button.
Note: It is also recommended to contact your Account Manager directly via email or phone.
-
Once the integration is enabled, you can configure the following options:
- Enter a Configuration Name.
- Provide a custom enrollment URL that will be sent to talent via the onboarding task.
Click the Verify URL button to confirm the enrollment URL navigates to the correct page. Click Save once verified.
New Filled Job Requirements
Optional — When enabled, the system verifies that talent have a completed BIC onboarding task before allowing job placement. If you attempt to place talent who haven't completed their BIC task, the system displays an error and prevents the placement. If this requirement is disabled, talent can be placed on jobs regardless of their BIC task status. See New Filled Job Requirements for additional information.
- Click Account & Settings.
-
Select Table Editor.
- On the left side of the screen, click the Jobs dropdown.
-
Select New Filled Job Requirements - Integrations.
- Toggle Benefits in a Card to enable.
- Click Save.
Custom Filled Job Requirement
Benefits in a Card is also available as a Custom Filled Job Requirement. This prevents job placements until talent has completed the required BIC onboarding task(s). Enforcement options are flexible and based on employment type: All Talents, 1099 Only, W2 Only, or C2C Only.
- Navigate to the Company Requirements tab to set which BIC task(s) are required.
- Within the Custom Filled Job Requirement Group section, click Create New Requirement Group.
- Select Onboarding Tasks and choose BIC from the Additional Integrations dropdown.
- Choose one of four enforcement options:
- All Talents: Enforces BIC completion for all talent regardless of employment type.
- 1099 Only: Enforces BIC completion only for 1099 contractors.
- W2 Only: Enforces BIC completion only for W2 employees.
- C2C Only: Enforces BIC completion only for Corp-to-Corp contractors.
Placement Enforcement: Once configured, the custom job requirement prevents placement only if the talent does not have the enabled onboarding task in a Completed state. In that case, an error is displayed at placement, giving users the opportunity to address the issue before proceeding.
What's Not Affected: Talent with completed BIC tasks can be placed without interruption. Talent whose employment type doesn't match your selected requirement (for example, W2 employees when "1099 Only" is selected) can also be placed without BIC validation. Jobs that don't include BIC requirements in their requirement group are unaffected.
Configuring Talent Onboarding Tasks
-
Click the Account & Settings icon and select Utilities.

Select Talent Onboarding Tasks. You can filter options by typing TASKS in the search box.
-
Available tasks are shown in sections described here. Click the chevron to the right of the Integration Tasks section to expand or collapse the options.

Click the switch to the right of Benefits In a Card to enable or disable the task. Turning the task On makes it available to other users in your organization for inclusion in workflows; turning it Off limits the available tasks when configuring workflows.

Effective 08/19/2021, all new talent require a Username to be set up.

Note: This requirement exists because talent can now be created without an email address. See Creating Talent without an Email. -
Click the Create & Send Email button.
-
If the menu does not include the Onboarding tab, click the
icon to the right of the menu.
- Click the Plus icon to the left of Onboarding.

Additional Notes
Sending BIC tasks: BIC tasks can be sent individually via the talent profile, using Mass Actions, via a workflow that contains the BIC task (the task must first be added to a workflow), or through Onboarding Automation. Refer to the Onboarding KB articles for details.
Deduction updates: If an employee changes their benefits, you will see a change recorded by AvionteWeb in the Employee Log in Back Office.
Supplier assignment for BIC deductions: For clients with employees working across multiple suppliers, deductions created through the BIC integration are now placed under the supplier tied to the employee's active assignment — rather than always defaulting to the home office supplier. The system uses the following logic to determine the correct supplier:
- If the talent has an active assignment, the supplier associated with that assignment is used.
- If the talent has multiple active assignments, the assignment with the earliest start date is used.
- If no active assignment exists, the system falls back to the talent's home office supplier.
